Oral DNA Test

We are one of very few dental offices that do oral DNA tests. We will generally recommend this when we are doing scaling and root planning treatment (generally known as a deep cleaning) when someone has active Periodontal Disease.

The added benefit of this test is that it will show the levels of oral bacteria that cause Periodontal Disease in your mouth. In addition, these tests can show if you are at risk for some systemic health conditions, including but not limited to Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes! With this information, we can target those bacteria with specific antibiotics.

This information will allow us to fight the bacteria within your tissues while the scaling and root planning (deep cleaning) will clean the external bacteria. As you can imagine, this gives us a much better outcome when treating Periodontal disease.
