Temporary Crown Post Operative Instructions

Temporary Crown Post Operative Instructions:

If you have just had a temporary crown or bridge cemented onto your tooth, please follow these instructions:

Do:  Brush thoroughly and gently as your gums may be sore from the procedure. Keep area clean and free of bacteria and plaque.

Do:  Eat softer foods and favor the other side of the mouth.  It is normal for the temporary to be cold sensitive and tender to chew on.  Use warmer water to rinse your mouth after brushing your teeth if needed.  Once your new crown is cemented, these symptoms with the sensitivity will go away over time.

Don’t:  Floss around the temporary crown.

Don’t:  Chew sticky foods.

Don’t:  Chew hard foods such as ice, raw almonds or carrots, peanut brittle, etc.

If your temporary crown comes out, hold onto it and give us a call so we can get you into the office and have the crown replaced. If this happens, there is no need to panic.
