Filling Post-Operative Care
Filling Post-Operative Care:
You have just had a filling on your tooth. Your filling is at full strength and you can immediately eat and drink as normal. If you had anesthetic during your procedure, please be aware that you will be numb for the next 3-5 hours. Be cautious not to bite your lip or cheek while numb.
Please follow these instructions to care for the filling:
Do: Brush and floss thoroughly and gently as your gums may be sore from the procedure. Keep area clean and free of bacteria and plaque.
Do: Expect the tooth to be cold sensitive and tender to chew on. Use warmer water to rinse your mouth after brushing your teeth. If sensitive, the tooth can take anywhere from a few days to a few months to calm down.
Do: Call the office for a follow up if the bite feels high on the new filling. This can occur sometimes due to the anesthetic used during the procedure. If this occurs, the filling can be easily adjusted when no longer numb.
